Kitty Goes to Vegas: Read along for travel tips and awesome discoveries of a first timer.

September 21, 2011 1700-ish
Wow! So far I've only taken a plane trip , and I've done a few things I've never done before. First in-flight "beverages"! Not only did I get a beverage ... I got 2 ! Haha I know !
I've never seen the dessert before. I've only lived my life in cow country, Texas,  and the evergreen country. I spent the whole flight with my face glued to the window like a kid. I could have sworn I saw the real "Nuketown" . For all those fellow nerds out there you'll understand the reference.
I have a list of a few places I want to check out while I'm there.
Payards chocolates is at the top. For my birthday last year my Gent got me the AMAZING macaroons shipped from there. According to him they have more.
Next on my adventure is the neon sign 24 hour museum. It's not the bone yard, but it's got some neat pieces.
So I'm currently in flight and enjoying my beverages and writing to the world. I'm thinking of all the fun things I'm going to do. I have no idea what , but man I'm excited...
By the way....I'm beginning bloodymary number 2...And about to begin my in-flight dessert of glazed nuts  :-)
But yeah new adventure, new friends, same Ol me.
So I leave you now for my glazed nuts and angry birds.

Thursday September 22  11am ish
Wow what a first night in Vegas . I had my most favorite moment, and my least favorite moment so far. Worst one first ... After coming back to the room I discovered I was super hungry. Being up for 36 hours and my only food was my plane meal on the way here, and a liquid snack (free champagne at Surrender) . So as I changed into some jeans and went about my quest for food at almost 4 am. Went to the concierge to ask about food. They proceeded to tell me about what the hotel had to offer ... The burger palace and a Chinese food joint both located a few floors up. Mind you I'm staying at the Imperial Palace ... A old hotel not exactly known for it's food. So ...Chinese place looks like I would get food poisoning just drinking the water, and the burger place is deserted ... I took my chances on the burger palace. Yuck! I'll spare you the details ... Bad bad bad. I'm not here to be a critic but damn. I didn't spend the rest of my trip sick, but I did wake up a few hours later feeling less then in my prime.
So on to my favorite moment so far... "Surrender" which is inside of The Encore. Holy cow! Oober swanky, oober awesome, and oober killer house DJ. I had the pleasure of meeting a few club promoters, and they so graciously took me around. Free champagne for the ladies , and all the ambience you can handle! Gogo dancers were so chic with their beaded belts, and hot little swim suits. The whole place is surrounding a pool. The theme seems to be the whole give into sin vibe. Serpent on the wall, apple in the logo, and there's plenty of temptation walking around. Just killer!  I was dressed in a funky pinup style dress ect. But i didn't mind.  I was dressed to impress, and I can't be at one of the swankiest places in town looking like everyone else...that's just not my style .  The crowd was very ... "LA" in it's appearance . The gogo dancers we so cute. They had these amazing beaded belts, and wore a little swim suit under. So simple, but sophisticated. The bouncers left a little to be desired. Sure they are easy on the eyes, BUT they have that mentality of "This chick doesn't look like the others...hmmm let's mean mug her" HA! It's what I expected, and yes Surrender...I was paying attention to that. I wasn't there to look at the bouncers though so I could care less. As  long as you dress like you are in Vegas then you'll be fine. Loved it! If only they had a night time pool party there...hmmm good idea. The pool was nice to look at ; however no one is allowed in it during the club time.
Once the rest of my party arrives; we will be attending there again for Skrillex. SUPER STOKED!

So lessons learned so far...
- Hotel choice was good because it's cheap and the location is perfect.
- tipping is really all you need if you're a chick and in Vegas
- dress nice and to impress...the more you look the part of a movie star the more everyone will think you are ;-) even if you don't look like you're from "The Hills"
- don't eat ANYTHING at the "Burger Palace" in the Imperial

So now that I'm awake, and ready... I'm off to gather some real food, and it's time to go meet up with the Envy Vixens and continue my journey.

"Kitty's Kitchen": A food blog with style!

Sweet Pepper Poppers Wrapped in Bacon
Only 5 Ingredients! Super Easy!

Hello Vixens and Gentlemen!
Today I will be sharing a easy, and delish appetizer that is great for any occasion. This dish is wonderful hot or cold. I tried these little bad boys out at a dinner party I went to, and they were a huge hit. They traveled easy, kept well, and were a crowd pleaser.  There are lots of recipes for pepper poppers out there, but I've tweaked a few things to make it more delish I think .
Bon A Petit!
XOXO
Kitty V

Required Kitchen Wares:
*Large Cookie Sheet
*Parchment Paper
*Wire Cooking rack
*Toothpicks (I used the fancy shaped ones for looks)
WARNING! Do not use toothpicks with plastic embellishments. You're going to put them in the over during cooking, and DUH plastic melts in the oven.)
*2 large prep bowls
*Knife
*Spoon
*Plastic Spatula

Shopping List:
-I bag of small sweet peppers (I prefer the multi-colored variety for nice color)
-Neufchâtel Cheese (just a fancy way to say "Fat Free Cream Cheese")
*Depending on how many peppers you make you may need 2 boxes. *
-Maple Bacon (once again depending on how many peppers...you may need 2 packs)
-Packet of dry ranch seasoning (I use the Hidden Valley)
-black pepper (ground)

Directions:
-pre-heat over to 375 degrees F

-take out Neufchâtel Cheese and Bacon from fridge, and allow it to come to room temperature while peppers are being prepped.

-Wash and dry all peppers. remove the top of pepper, halve, and remove spines and seeds from inside of peppers. For this I scrape out the inside using a spoon to shave out the seeds and spines. Then place prepped peppers into one of your large bowls.

-In another large bowl mix Neufchâtel Cheese, Ranch Seasoning, and a little black pepper. I didn't use all of the ranch packet. I added small portions of seasoning until it was the right amount to me. Same with the black pepper.

-Cut bacon strips in half vertically. We want just enough so the ends of the pepper can still stick out, and so it doesn't over power the peppers.

-Take your large cookie sheet and line with parchment paper. Place wire cooking rack on top of lined sheet pan.

Once your ready to start putting these bad boys together I set out all the ingredients like an assembly line like so...
1) Bowl of Peppers
2)Mixed Neufchâtel Cheese with spoon
3)Bacon Strips (halved and ready to go)
4)toothpicks
5)cooking rack

Assembly:
-Take pepper halve and place a teaspoon of cheese mixture inside pepper.
-wrap bacon strip halve around filled pepper (like a happy bacon belt)
-skewer pepper and bacon with toothpick to hold bacon belt in place
-place on prepped cookie sheet.
-repeat until all peppers are done
-make sure you give these little buggers enough room to cook, so then get crispy. (check out the "before cooking" picture above for an example.)

Cooking:
-place your cookie sheet of assembled poppers into a 375 degree F oven for 15-20 minutes. (I set them in the oven for 15 minutes, and then check to see how they are doing. Because the thickness of the peppers vary, the time will vary.) Let them cook until the bacon is nice and crispy.

-Once cooked take them out and let them cool down a bit. The cheese is similar to molten lava when they first come out; so please be careful. I know they are good...but if you burn your mouth on the first one because you just could not wait...don't come crying to me that you couldn't taste the rest of them. ;_

-Place on cute serving tray , and ENJOY!
An easy way to travel with these is to place them in the disposable tin foil cake pans (the ones that come with lids), so when you're ready to leave you can just toss the container, and not have to worry about bring home a dirty dish or losing a dish. If you are going to store these after cooking please let then cool prior to placing them in a container, and going into the fridge.

September 2011 Kitty Vixen Boutique's Featured Vixen:
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

"Jackie-O", "The First Lady", and "Mrs. Kennedy"; these are just a few titles that this amazing woman was known as. She was not only married to one of the most iconic men of our time, she WAS one the most ICONIC women of our time. She changed so many things, and rocked the world with her beauty.
A Hampton gal she was, and a prime choice for a Presidents wife, fortunately she had an outstanding sense of style and grace; that very few individuals have ever been able to come close to.
